Deep in the heart of Ireland, on the banks of the Grand Canal, stands a 19th Century Bonded Warehouse. Within the walls of this great structure, a legend lives. It’s where one man built an empire on a determined dream, where a whiskey making tradition blossomed and grew, where a founder learnt his trade and crafted an Irish whiskey worthy of his name.
This is the home of Tullamore D.E.W.
Daniel E. Williams was a man compelled to create. He had a vision of a whiskey apart, made to his standards, his way. He created and nurtured Tullamore D.E.W. as we know it today, the first triple distilled, triple blended Irish whiskey, setting the stage for all that would follow.
The Old Bonded Warehouse was the last place our whiskey would rest; the final leg on its journey before being shipped up the canal for distribution around the world. But where the casks moved on, the history remained. It’s this history that flows through the corridors of our Visitor Centre, where fans of the world’s finest whiskey can engage with history itself.
Like our whiskey, the Visitor Centre is for those who want a taste of the exceptional. It’s for those who search for hidden depths, embrace discovery and put their faith in the genuine.
You’ll begin with the birth of a brand and end with it in your glass – your very own personal tasting session. See how we use malting to trick our barley into growing, hear the tales of the distillery’s early workers and find out how the angels always get their share. Our full tour takes in every step of the artisan craft of whiskey making, each stage a story, told through captivating audio-visual media and the good old Irish charm of our expert guides.
The final step in every tour is a complimentary whiskey tasting. Putting your new knowledge to good use, you’ll pick up notes and flavours that previously went unnoticed. Three of our famous blends will be explored,
and with the legend unravelled, you can join us in raising a
glass to a whiskey worth waiting for.
To suit the know-how levels of Tullamore D.E.W. enthusiasts, experts and aficionados, we offer two types of tour. The first caters for the inquisitive, the individuals or groups who want to truly get to know their favourite whiskey. The second is for those well acquainted with the whiskey making process but want to investigate a little deeper.
Our classic tour, taking you through our brand’s history and the whiskey we craft. You’ll follow the process to its completion, explore the turbulent history of our brand and finish off with a tasting. Admission from €8.00.
